Makeover Champions: Supporting Thoroughbreds Beyond the Racetrack at the 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover

The 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America, will feature the return of Makeover Champions, a program that allows former connections of Thoroughbred racehorses to show their support for these horses as they transition to new careers. Participants in Makeover Champions, including breeders, owners, trainers, and stallion farms, can share updates about their former horses leading up to the event, showcasing their commitment to the Thoroughbred breed beyond the racetrack. They can also volunteer at the Thoroughbred Makeover, attend the event, or make donations to support the Retired Racehorse Project's mission to promote Thoroughbreds in various disciplines.

The Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover is the largest retraining competition for retired racehorses and former broodmares in North America. With over 300 horses registered for this year's competition, the event plays a crucial role in showcasing the versatility and potential of Thoroughbreds beyond their racing careers. Former connections of horses participating in the 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover can join Makeover Champions by filling out a form to receive more information about the program. The final entry deadline in August will determine the full lineup of competing horses.

The Retired Racehorse Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting off-track Thoroughbreds for various equestrian disciplines. In addition to organizing the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, the RRP offers educational resources, online listings for Thoroughbreds, and conducts clinics and seminars across the country. Makeover Champions provides a platform for former connections to continue supporting Thoroughbreds as they embark on new careers, highlighting the breed's adaptability and potential beyond the racetrack.
