Tony Cottrill, a seasoned figure in the Nashville music scene, has recently been honored with induction into the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame. Hailing from Ross County, Cottrill holds the distinction of being the first audio engineer to receive this prestigious recognition. The induction ceremony, held at the Keepin’ It Country Farm in Waynesville, Ohio on July 26, marked a significant milestone in Cottrill's career.
Expressing his gratitude for the honor, Cottrill remarked on the humbling experience of being acknowledged for his behind-the-scenes work in helping artists sound their best. His journey in the music industry began as a drummer in local bands before transitioning to sound engineering and live production. Throughout his career, Cottrill has collaborated with renowned country musicians such as Ronnie Milsap, Exile, Juice Newton, Diamond Rio, and Jamey Johnson, showcasing his expertise and dedication to the craft.
Beyond his work in live production, Cottrill has been actively involved in audio education, sharing his knowledge and skills with aspiring professionals. His teaching roles at institutions like Belmont University, SAE Institute, and The Recording Workshop have contributed to shaping the next generation of audio engineers. As the production manager and co-producer of the popular television show "Jimmy Bowen & Friends," Cottrill continues to make a mark in the industry, reaching audiences across the United States, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
