Close Encounter: Seattle Kraken's Mascot Buoy Faces Off Against Bear in Alaska's Katmai National Park
A bear in Alaska briefly chased the Seattle Kraken's mascot, Buoy, and forward John Hayden during a fishing trip in Katmai National Park. The encounter led to a furry faceoff between the grizzly and the sea troll, but the bear eventually let them skate away unharmed. Hayden shared that they had a couple of close calls with bears while fishing in the park, with one bear taking aggressive steps towards Buoy before backing off. Despite the scare, Hayden joked that the bear might have just wanted a closer look at Buoy, who was in his game-time costume with fisherman coveralls.
